Washington [US]Jan. 15 (ANI): Aaron Eckhart has been tapped to direct Renny Harlin’s action-thriller film “The Bricklayer.”
According to Deadline, Expendables company Millennium Media is producing with Gerard Butler after the two teamed up with Eckhart on the lucrative “Has Fallen” franchise.
In ‘The Bricklayer’, someone blackmails the CIA into murdering foreign journalists and making it look like the agency is responsible. As the world begins to unite against the United States, the CIA must lure its most brilliant – and most rebellious – agent out of retirement, forcing him to confront his turbulent past while unraveling an international conspiracy.
The film is set to be shot at Millennium’s new Nu Boyana Greece studio and its Nu Boyana Bulgaria facility. The film’s screenplay comes from Hannah Weg and Matt Johnson.
The producers are Alan Siegel, Butler and Danielle Robinson of G-Base; Heidi Jo Markel of Eclectic Pictures; and Jeffrey Greenstein of Millennium Media, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger, Yariv Lerner and Rob Van Norden. Millennium’s Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson and Tanner Mobley serve as executive producers.
Director Harlin shared, “The script for ‘The Bricklayer’ has the rare combination of well-layered characters, intricate plots and propulsive action. After spending five years in China, I’m thrilled to be back for make a high-caliber Hollywood action thriller. If there’s anything I’ve learned from my three Chinese films, it’s the importance of deeply felt emotion. In Aaron Eckhart, I found a first-class dramatic actor, who also has the physique and charm to bring this iconic character to life.
Eckhart’s credits also include “The Dark Knight,” “Midway,” and AMC’s upcoming “Pantheon.” (ANI)
