“Pathaan” responds to my desire to make an action film
For someone who’s known as the ‘King of Romance’, starring in a die-hard action movie like ‘Pathaan’ was nothing short of a dream come true opportunity, superstar Shah says Rukh Khan.
The 56-year-old star returns to the big screen with the upcoming Yash Raj Films project, the first preview of which was released on Saturday to mark Khan’s 30th birthday in film. Directed by “War” director Siddharth Anand, “Pathaan” is billed as “a high-octane spy thriller.”
Khan said he came on board the film at a time when he didn’t enjoy the directing process, but the project brought him back to the sets.
“I didn’t enjoy the process of making a movie, which is most important to me, even more than the movie itself. When we started shooting ‘Pathaan’, it was a lot of fun and excitement. ‘action. The actor joked that even though he tries to be “macho” in his 50s, he hopes people will like him as an action hero.
“In ‘Pathaan,’ I’m doing all this action that I wanted to do when I was in my twenties. It’s kind of late. At 56, I’m trying to be macho and tough and I’m trying to make it work , but I think Siddharth and the whole action team put in a lot of effort. I hope I look like a good action hero,” he said.
Over his three-decade career, Khan has brought many iconic characters to life, whether it’s Raj from “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” or Rahul from “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai…”. The actor said each of his roles contained “a bit of Shah Rukh Khan”.
“I love Raj and Rahul, there is a big part of me in them. Most of it is from Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar, but there is also a part of me. They will always be special like all characters… I said movie review once every character has a bit of Shah Rukh Khan in them so Rahul has a bit, Raj has a bit and Pathaan has a lot because I feel like a Pathaan,” he said.
The first animated poster for “Pathaan” features Khan in a rugged look with long hair and a beard, holding a shotgun. Gushing about his long hair in the film, the actor said he misses the hairstyle.
“I miss my long hair now. I hope if y’all like ‘Pathaan’ and we do part 2, I’ll grow my hair back,” he teased.
“Pathaan” features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in key roles, with a special appearance from superstar Salman Khan.
SRK said that Salman Khan is a similar family and he wants to do a full-fledged movie with him one day.
“With Salman Khan, there is no professional experience. It’s always more of a love experience, a happy experience, a friendly experience, a brotherly experience. It’s incredible every time I work with him”, did he declare.
The superstar said he will also try to appear in Salman Khan’s upcoming actioner ‘Tiger 3’.

“Pathaan” will hit theaters on January 25 next year. The actor said the first trailer for the film will arrive in November-December.
